Regional Digital Transformation
The working program began with a visit to the Akmola Region, where a meeting was held with the regional Department of Digitalization. Discussions focused on prospects for implementing artificial intelligence solutions, digital twins, smart city technologies, and capacity building for public servants.
As a result, a multilateral cooperation agreement was signed, outlining joint efforts in regional digital transformation. One of the key initiatives discussed was the “Digital Burabay” project, which envisions the creation of an intelligent platform to support tourism development through analytics and AI technologies.
Innovation in Construction and Urban Safety
In Astana, AI GEEKS met with the executive management of BI Group, one of Kazakhstan’s largest construction companies. The discussions centered on the deployment of intelligent safety systems in next-generation residential complexes.
AI GEEKS presented a smart parking solution based on computer vision and IoT technologies. The system enables early detection of fire risks involving electric vehicles and automatically manages fire prevention infrastructure. The solution has successfully passed certification and testing in South Korea and has no direct global analogues. BI Group expressed interest in launching a pilot project in the premium residential segment.
Partnership with Astana Innovations
One of the key milestones of the visit was a meeting with Astana Innovations, the organization responsible for implementing advanced digital solutions in the capital city. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed following the discussions.
The parties agreed to introduce a collaborative model under which AI and machine learning solutions for the city will be developed with the involvement of students and interns from the educational platform VeraVla edu. The most promising solutions may be selected for real-world implementation within the city’s infrastructure.
Industrial Solutions and Energy Efficiency
As part of the mission, AI GEEKS held a meeting with the management of Kazakhmys, one of Kazakhstan’s largest industrial corporations. The company presented energy management systems designed to reduce electricity costs, enhance operational safety, increase production resilience, and meet modern ESG requirements.
Following the discussions, the parties agreed to launch a pilot project at one of the group’s facilities in Taraz. Preparatory technical work is scheduled to begin in the near future.
Innovation in the Automotive and Logistics Sectors
AI GEEKS also held talks with the leadership of Astana Motors, Kazakhstan’s largest automotive holding company. The discussions focused on intelligent parking systems, early fire detection technologies, and EMS (Energy Management Systems) and FEMS (Factory Energy Management Systems) for large-scale infrastructure, industrial, and logistics facilities.
In addition, meetings were held with Kazpost, the national postal operator of Kazakhstan. AI GEEKS presented several AI-based projects, from which two pilot initiatives using computer vision were selected. These projects aim to automate parcel processing and enhance security at logistics centers.
Startup Support and Education Development
In Almaty, a four-party cooperation agreement was signed between AI GEEKS, VeraVla edu, ILJOO GnS, Design Council Busan, and MOST Hub Almaty, one of Kazakhstan’s leading innovation and startup hubs. The agreement focuses on supporting student-led and early-stage AI startups through acceleration programs and facilitating their entry into international markets.
Education and talent development were also key priorities during the visit. A meeting was held with representatives of the Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU), where the establishment of a joint artificial intelligence laboratory with Korean partners was discussed.
A New Stage of International Cooperation
The working mission of AI GEEKS and its Korean partners highlighted Kazakhstan’s growing role as a strategic hub for the deployment of advanced digital and industrial technologies in Central Asia.
The signed agreements and planned pilot projects lay the foundation for long-term cooperation aimed at developing the digital economy, strengthening technological resilience, and nurturing the next generation of professionals for future industries.
